Seed Saving Workshop
Saturday, April 22 - 3:30 pm
Free for members or general admission of $5 adults / $3 children
Locally produced seeds yield hardier, more delicious crops.  This is how our ancestors farmed sustainably for over 10,000 years—and it’s the only way to recreate such a system today.  Join David Wolfgram to learn how to select, pollinate, harvest, clean and save seeds produced in your own garden.  No RSVP necessary. Please check in at the Visitor Center.
 
Earth Day Poster Contest Call for Entries
Entries must be received by 4 pmSaturday, April 2 
Late entries may not be judged
No Fee to Enter
Entries must be 9”x12” using the theme, “I Need Nature and Nature Needs Me”  Please do not glue anything onto your project. Entries must include the following information on the back:
Name (first and last)
School
Grade (k-6 only)
Teacher
Home Phone
Project Title
Art posters will be on display in the Ogden Nature Center’s LS Peery Education Center April 16 through May 14, 2016.  Entries will not be returned but may be picked up May 16 through May 21. After May 21 contest entries become the property of the Ogden Nature Center.  Prizes will be awarded to three winners in each grade, with one grand prize winner per grade.  The winners will be invited to an awards program at the Ogden Nature Center’s Earth Day Fair on April 16, at 11 am.
 
Illuminated Nature Journal
Saturday, April 2, 10 am – 12 pm
$18 for members / $21 for non-members
Ages: 12+
Join artist Mary Wells as you create a leather-covered longstitch book that lies flat when open, making it an excellent book form for a nature journal. Learn layout techniques that will enhance your nature pages using lettering and illustrations. All supplies furnished. Please RSVP by Thursday, March 31 to 801-621-7595.
 
Wild Wednesdays: The Wild Truth: An April Fool’s Day Program
Wednesday, April 6, 3:45 pm
Free for ONC members
$3 children / $4 seniors / $5 adults
All ages welcome
Nature can weave some pretty tall tales, but that doesn’t mean they’re not true.  Come out to the Ogden Nature Center and test your nature knowledge with a true or false game, then explore some of the most unbelievable animals and plants on the planet.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Early Childhood Environmental Education Workshop
Saturday, April 9, 9 am - 3 pm
Cost: $45
For teachers of preschool-1st grade 
Hosted by The Utah Society for Environmental Education and featuring Project Learning Tree’s “Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood,” and Project WILD’s, “Growing Up WILD.”  Participants will become more comfortable teaching outdoors about nature and will receive both full-color curriculum guides that offer more than 500 hands-on, nature-based exploration activities for children ages 3-7. Participants should bring a lunch and water bottle and wear sturdy walking shoes. This workshop is eligible for Utah State Office of Education re-licensure credits.

Wild Wednesdays: Colorful Confusion

Earth Day Fair!

Come celebrate Earth Day at the Ogden Nature Center!  Enjoy earth-friendly exhibitors, demonstrations, entertainment, food, nature crafts, and fun activities.  
Explore the trails, tour our green buildings, check out our new solar array and Eagle homes, and learn what you can do to improve the health of the planet.   Fun and educational for the whole family.

Join us as we explore cool facts about planet earth. How much do you know about our watery planet? Learn what you can do individually to help care for the planet. Then join us for a nature walk and trash pick-up around the nature preserve. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Homemade Meal Mixes... Without Getting Mixed Up

Ages: 12 years and older (16 and under must have paying adult attend)  
Come to the Ogden Nature Center for a fun evening learning how to go green in the kitchen. Help keep our environment clean by making your own yummy homemade mixes. Make healthy, delicious meals in minutes…without chemical additives. Save up to 80% of your grocery money…without coupons.
