Acclaimed, Ill-Fated Tale “West Side Story” CenterPoint Theatre

June 20th– July 18th

June 23, 2016

In the heart of the upper west side of Manhattan is a feud between two races, a fight for territory and ownership, a battle for pride.  The Jets and the Sharks are in a cutthroat crusade to prove that their gang deserves respect and honor on these tough streets.  In the midst of all this chaos shines a young and innocent love as two teenagers, Tony and Maria, from different camps find that love crosses all boundaries and is stronger than race.
This beautiful, musical masterpiece by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim transcends time and becomes a relevant story, more than ever before, as today our own communities struggle with lines drawn across race, religion, politics, etc.  What better time than now to examine within our own selves what it means to love and respect all of our neighbors.
