The Camp Floyd Overnight Experience

 THE CAMP FLOYD OVER NIGHT EXPERIENCE is designed for any one ages 8 and up and offers an authentic and unique two-day adventure!  Participants travel back in time to 1858 - 1861 and enter the world of a soldier with Johnston’s Army at Camp Floyd in the Utah Territory.  New recruits are processed, mustered into the army and issued uniforms. As a new enlisted private, participants will shoulder their musket, and march off to a new adventure!  Leaving modern possessions behind, the call of bugles and officers’ commands will replace the daily routine of 21st century life.

This program starts Friday at 5:30 pm and ends at approximately 12 pm on Saturday.  Participants are to have dinner prior to arrival or can bring a picnic dinner to eat in our picnic area before the event. The camp curriculum is based on the history of Johnston’s Army at Camp Floyd, Utah Territory.  Each camp is limited to 30 participants. Camp fees are $20 per person, which includes all camp materials, breakfast, and a Camp Floyd State Park patch. This two-day program includes an overnight stay with sleeping accommodations in recreated military tents. Participants will need to provide their own sleeping gear.

Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Please note, there are no refunds for the Camp Floyd Experience for Families. After registration, you will receive an e-mail with additional information, and an online form to be completed by each participant or parent / guardian.

 

Camp Activities

Soldiers Camp – Join the Army and sign your name with a quill and ink. Meet costumed interpreters and learn about a soldier’s equipment and camp life.  Erect recreated military tents.  Roll a cartridge, fire a rifle musket, drill like soldiers with a replica rifle, and try hardtack.  Play camp games like graces, hoops, and more.

Experience the History of Camp Floyd – Enjoy the fascinating exhibits on the life of a soldier at the Camp Floyd Museum. Tour the Stagecoach Inn constructed next to the camp for passengers traveling by stagecoach.
