Parks and Recreation Master Plan Public Scoping Meeting

Layton City

April 23, 2015
Public Meeting for Layton City Parks, Recreation, Trails,
and Cultural Facilities Master Plan

Layton City Parks and Recreation is updating the Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Cultural Facilities Master Plan.  This is an exciting time, as existing conditions are being assessed and future visions established.

The purpose of this project is to update and replace the existing Parks, Recreation, and Trails element of the Layton City General Plan, which is outdated.  Layton City has hired Landmark Design, a Salt Lake City planning and design firm, to help create the new Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Cultural Facilities Master Plan.

The following tasks will be integral in the process of developing the plan:
Public Involvement
Data Collection
Needs Assessment and Analysis
Trail System Analysis
Acquisition and Construction Costs
Goals, Objectives, and Policy Development
Since public involvement is key to the success of this project, the first of two meetings will be on April 21, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Central Davis Jr High Gymnasium (663 North Church St, Layton).  This scoping meeting, which will begin with a short presentation with group discussions to follow that will assist the planning team in better understanding the issues and ideas you have for Layton's parks, recreation facilities, trails and cultural facilities.  The City will offer Open Gym for kids to play a variety of fun games with supervisors on hand while parents participate in the scoping session.  Light treats and refreshments will also be served.

If you are unable to attend the Scoping Meeting, we invite you to provide your ideas and track progress by visiting the project webpage athttp://www.ldi-ut.com/layton.  You will be able to review the results of the "Layton City Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment Survey" and take a look at preliminary maps.  Also, please remember that you will have the opportunity to review the plan at a Draft Plan Open House and Public Hearings later this summer, and we invite you to continue to stay involved throughout the process.
